The Shaykh : I am not aware of a sunnah regarding facing the qiblah when sleeping, but there is the well-known hadith:
The Ka'bah is your qiblah, whether you are alive or dead الكعبة قبلتكم أحياء وأمواتا
This generality includes that a person should face the qiblah in his sleep. However, what the Sunnah brought is that one should sleep on the right side; this is the best. But we find that some people lie on their backs, some lie on their stomachs, and some lie on their left side, which is contrary to what is best. The best is on the right side. But if you see something you dislike in your dream while you are on your right side, what do you do? You turn to your left side. This indicates that the direction of the sleeper, or sleeping on the right side, is not obligatory, but rather it is the best. Yes.
