Benefits of the Hadith: "O Abu 'Amir, what has happened to the little bird?"

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Among the benefits of this hadith is the permissibility of children playing with birds, meaning with a sparrow. We give it to him to play with, and there is no harm in that, provided that he does not harm it.
It also contains evidence for the permissibility of giving a kunyah (honorific name) to a young child, even if he has no children. We call him "O Abu So-and-so," even if he is young.
It also contains evidence of the good character of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) and that he was humble even toward children. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was humble toward the children.
Until when he passed by them, he greeted them. حتى إذا مر بهم سلم عليهم
(peace and blessings be upon him). We ask Allah the Exalted to make us all among his followers, those who will be gathered in his group. Indeed, He is capable of all things. Let us stop here. The purpose of this talk is that a believer does not let a moment of his life pass without acquiring good in it, even if that is only in reflecting on the creation of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) and in His Shari'ah, for he will gain much good from that.

The questioner : ...

The Shaykh : Yes, you have done well. The third point: al-Shafi'i said, "As for wudu, I did not sleep until I needed to perform wudu, because he was reflecting on this hadith." May Allah bless you. Yes.

The questioner : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
