The questioner : May Allah reward the honorableThe Shaykh : We reminded you, admonished you, and stirred the hearts of the heedless listeners to this tape regarding our condition, while we are in safety and tranquility, going to and coming from the mosques, and what happened to our brothers in Palestine, where they prayed the Fajr prayer, and that Jew entered upon them and fired upon them. I ask you, O Shaykh, to stir the hearts of those who do not attend the Fajr prayer, even though it is Ramadan. How is it that they are in safety and tranquility, while our brothers there, with the fear and anxiety they are in, come to the mosque and then what happens to them happens? May Allah benefit you.

The Shaykh : There is no doubt that what happened is an abomination, even the disbelieving nations condemned this matter. Every person who reflects on the issue knows that it is not a light matter. A people who worship Allah the Exalted in one of the houses of Allah, in one of the best of months, in a witnessed prayer,
Indeed, the recitation of dawn is ever witnessed.
[Al-Isra 17:78]
and they were prostrating to Allah Mighty and Majestic, with their small children with them, as one of them mentioned, saying that his small children were beside him; he brought them to pray, and he heard the gunfire, and he mentioned the rest of the story. I say that if we compare this to what the Christian Serbs did to our brothers in Bosnia, where they fired upon them the shells that killed them, we know for certain that the Jews and the Christians are enemies of the Muslims, and there is no doubt in this. But heedlessness takes hold of the hearts, and I seek refuge in Allah, until people forget what Allah reminded them of in His saying:
O you who have believed, do not take My enemies and your enemies as allies, extending to them affection while they have disbelieved in what came to you of the truth
[Al-Mumtahanah 60:1]
and they forget His saying:
O you who have believed, do not take the Jews and the Christians as allies. They are [in fact] allies of one another
[Al-Ma'idah 5:51]
and they forget His saying:
You will surely find the most intense of the people in animosity toward the believers [to be] the Jews and those who associate others with Allah
[Al-Ma'idah 5:82]
As for His saying:
and you will find the nearest of them in affection to the believers those who say, "We are Christians."
[Al-Ma'idah 5:82]
this refers to the Christians of that time, the Christians at the time of the revelation of the verse, because Allah gave the reason for this
(82) You will surely find the most intense of the people in animosity toward the believers [to be] the Jews and those who associate others with Allah; and you will find the nearest of them in affection to the believers those who say, "We are Christians." That is because among them are priests and monks and because they are not arrogant. (83) And when they hear what has been revealed to the Messenger, you see their eyes overflowing with tears because of what they have recognized of the truth. They say, "Our Lord, we have believed, so register us among the witnesses. بأن منهم قسيسين ورهبانا وأنهم لا يستكبرون وإذا سمعوا ما أنزل إلى الرسول ترى أعينهم تفيض من الدمع مما عرفوا من الحق
[Al-Ma'idah 5:82-83]

As for the Christians of today, there is no difference between them and the Jews; they are all allies, and they are all enemies of the Muslims. It is obligatory upon us to take a lesson from this admonition and to be cautious of our disbelieving enemies, whatever their type. And as the questioner said, we should thank Allah the Exalted and Glorious for this safety in this land, and praise be to Allah. A person goes out alone to the mosque, and he does not disobey except Allah Mighty and Majestic. Some people lag behind in the Fajr prayer in this month; they get up and fill their bellies until their belt can barely hold them due to their fullness, then they sleep through the Fajr prayer, and they follow it with the Zuhr prayer as if it is an addition to it, and they follow it with the 'Asr prayer as if it is a description. Yes, then when Maghrib comes, the time to fill the belly, they get up. Does this person have a fast?
Those who say that a man becomes a disbeliever by leaving one prayer say that this person has no fast. And I do not think anyone does this action while believing that the prayer is obligatory. And whoever denies the obligation of the prayer is a disbeliever, even if he prays, even if he prays after the time or within the time, even if he prays within the time and says that the five prayers are not obligatory but are voluntary, and he maintains them and prays them. We say this person is a disbeliever, because the scholars agreed "that whoever denies the obligation of the five prayers is a disbeliever, even if he prays them" But unfortunately, the common people among us now maintain fasting more than they maintain prayer, and they maintain fasting more than they maintain zakah, and they maintain voluntary acts more than they maintain obligatory acts. And this is from the deception of Satan. Otherwise, the obligatory acts are more deserving and more worthy of being maintained, and prayer is more deserving of being maintained than fasting, and zakah is more deserving of being maintained than fasting, and they are all obligatory acts, all from the pillars of Islam. Yes.
