The Shaykh : Then the author said:
"And Ibn al-Khatib and his party after him *** did not find the places of the Furqan"
Ibn al-Khatib is al-Razi, the famous exegete and the known Sufi philosopher and theologian. He is considered one of the most intelligent scholars, and he has many eccentricities in tafsir and other matters. However, it is said that in the last of his life he repented to Allah, and Allah knows best. But his writings are well-known and famous. He says: "*** did not find the places of the Furqan"
"But they stumbled in transmission and research ***" They stumbled in transmission, meaning in what they transmitted from others, and in research, meaning in what they discussed of the opinions of others. For this reason, they say that among the characteristics of al-Razi's research is that he presents problems in a way that leads to confusion without providing a solution. As some of the Maghrebis said about him, he knows the problems in cash, but their solution is on credit; meaning, he gives you the problems immediately, but as for the solution, he does not give it to you, but brings it later. This is undoubtedly beneficial from one angle, in that it blocks every door of objection against the opponent. But if he does not prevail in his argument, there is a deficiency in this regard, because it is said that a person must either present the complete arguments of the other and refute them, or remain silent. But to open the door of loopholes in his own opinion and then be unable to close these doors is considered a deficiency.
The author (may Allah have mercy on him) says that they stumbled in transmission and research: in transmission, in what they transmitted from others, and in research, in what they discussed. "Making it obligatory, complaining" The pronoun "making it obligatory" refers to the transmitted and the researched.
"*** complaining to every bewildered one" "Al-Muladdad" means one for whom matters are not made easy; rather, Allah makes his matters difficult and does not ease them for him. "Al-Hayran" is known, meaning the one who is confused.
