(Explanation of the Salaf's Prohibition of the Science of Kalam) And you have opened two doors, whoever opens them *** the gifts of Satan are opened to him. The door of Kalam, and you were forbidden from it, and the *** door

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh :"And you have opened two doors, whoever opens them *** the gifts of Satan are opened to him"
What a bad gift! What are the two doors? He said:
"The door of Kalam, and you were forbidden from it, and the *** door of the fire, so the logic of the Greeks"
These two doors opened upon themselves the door of Kalam. And Kalam, as I said, as mentioned before, is establishing the tenets of faith through intellects based on debates and disputation. That is why they are called the people of Kalam. Why? Because of the abundance of their speech, their chattering, and their delving into matters that do not concern them, matters to which the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) applies:
The overzealous have perished هلك المتنطعون
If they had taken the tenets of faith from their proper sources with its ease and simplicity, and without being extreme in it, it would have been safer for them.
The second door is the door of what? Logic, the philosophy received from the Greeks. So they opened two doors for us: the door of Kalam and the door of logic, and they closed two doors: the door of the Book and the Sunnah.
He said, and the author's saying: "And you were forbidden from it"
Who forbade them? The Salaf forbade the science of Kalam and warned against it, to the extent that al-Shafi'i (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "My ruling regarding the people of Kalam is that they should be beaten with palm branches and sandals, and paraded through the tribes and markets, and it should be said: This is the reward of one who left the Book and the Sunnah and turned to the science of Kalam". This is his ruling. The ruling of al-Shafi'i (may Allah have mercy on him) regarding the people of Kalam. And this is a strict ruling, a strict ruling that indicates the severity of their prohibition (may Allah have mercy on them and be pleased with them) of the science of Kalam. Then it falls under the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
The excessive ones have perished, the excessive ones have perished, the excessive ones have perished. هلك المتنطعون هلك المتنطعون هلك المتنطعون
For example, the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them), when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to them:
Our Lord descends every night to the nearest heaven, until the last third of the night remains إن الله ينزل إلى السماء الدنيا حين يبقى ثلث الليل الآخر
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 3498Sahih (Darussalam)
They submitted, became submissive, and believed. What did the people of Kalam say? How does He descend while He is on the Throne? How does He descend, and the heavens are nothing in relation to Him, they are like a mustard seed in one of our hands? How can this be? So they brought about [their ruin] and doubted, and closed upon themselves the door of certainty. If they had submitted as the Companions submitted, they would have been safe. If they had submitted, they would have been safe. But they, may Allah protect us from that, were extreme, and they perished.
He said: "So you entered two abodes, the abode of ignorance in this *** world and the abode of disgrace in the Fires"
When they opened two doors, the door of Kalam and logic, they entered two abodes: the first abode is the abode of ignorance in this world, because the people of Kalam and the people of logic are the most ignorant of people regarding Allah, we ask Allah for safety. And the most knowledgeable of people regarding Allah are those who follow the Book and the Sunnah.
"And you tasted two colors, the color of doubt and the *** doubt-casting, doubt and the *** doubt-casting, so what a bad two colors"
They tasted the color of doubt and doubt-casting, doubt in themselves and doubt-casting for others. That is why you find their books all filled with doubt-casting resulting from their doubt. You find.
