It is mentioned in the hadith: “Indeed, the angels send blessings upon a man as long as he sits in his place of prayer remembering Allah, until he is interrupted. If he is compelled to stand up to open a door or answer a phone call or something else, can he return to his seat and continue his remembrance so that the angels continue to send blessings upon him?”

The questioner : The questioner states in the hadith that the angels send blessings upon a man as long as he sits in his place of prayer remembering Allah, until he is interrupted, as mentioned in the hadith. If he is compelled to stand up to open a door, answer a phone call, or do something else, can he return to his seat and continue his remembrance so that the angels continue to send blessings upon him?

The Shaykh : This is the meaning of the hadith to which she referred.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : The hadith refers to a man who performs wudu (ablution) in his home, completes the wudu thoroughly, and goes out to the mosque, where nothing other than prayer prompts him to go. He does not take a step but that Allah raises him thereby a degree and removes from him thereby a sin. When he prays, the angels continue to send blessings upon him as long as he remains in his place of prayer, saying: “O Allah, send blessings upon him. O Allah, forgive him. O Allah, have mercy on him.” Not everyone who prays and sits in his place of prayer, even if it is in his home, receives this reward. Therefore, the matter mentioned by the woman questioner regarding opening the door, making a phone call, or the like, does not apply.

The questioner : The questioner says, “O honorable Shaykh.”
