(The Cause of Salvation: Sincerity to Allah and Following His Messenger) The right of the Deity is worship by command, not *** by the desires of the souls, for that belongs to Satan, without associating anything with Him. They ***

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : The author (may Allah have mercy on him) says:
"The right of the Deity is worship by command, not *** by the desires of the souls, for that belongs to Satan"
This means that we worship Allah, and worship is His right, but we worship Him by His command, not by our desires. If worship were based on desires, my brothers, people would be in chaos, because everyone would desire one form of worship over another. Now, people differ in the worship of Allah the Exalted. You find the imam leading the congregation, and one person says, "You prolonged it," while another says, "You shortened it," and a third says, "You hastened the iqamah," and a fourth says, "You delayed it," and another says, "You hastened in ruku' and sujud," and another says, "You slowed down." Yet it is a worship that is defined and regulated by the Shari'ah. How could people agree if worship were left to people's desires? It would be impossible. So, by what do we worship Allah? By the command of Allah.
He who did any act for which there is no sanction from our behalf, that is to be rejected. من عمل عملا ليس عليه أمرنا فهو رد
Sahih Muslim 1718b
Therefore, he said:
"The right of the Deity is worship by command, not *** by the desires of the souls, for that belongs to Satan
without associating anything with Him. They *** are the causes of salvation, so how excellent are these two causes"

That is, we worship Him with sincerity to Him and obedience to His command, without shirk (associating partners with Allah) or bid'ah (religious innovation). These are the two causes of salvation.
