(Explanation of Ibn al-Qayyim's condition at the beginning of his affair) He circled through the schools of thought seeking a light to *** guide him and save him from the fires, as if he had circled seeking the darkness of the *** night

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh :"He circled through the schools of thought seeking a light" Yes
"He circled through the schools of thought seeking a light to *** guide him and save him from the fires"
He means himself, for he (may Allah have mercy on him) had extensive knowledge of the schools of thought of the scholars. At the beginning of his affair, he was a Sufi, and he nearly perished on the path of the Sufis, had it not been that Allah granted him the benefit of Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah. He nearly perished on the path of the Sufis, but Allah granted him the benefit of Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah. He kept the company of Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah and benefited from his knowledge, and Allah guided him through his hand. He said: And it was as if
"He circled through the schools of thought seeking a light to *** guide him and save him from the fires
And it was as if he had circled seeking the darkness of the *** blind night and the method of the bewildered"

He means that with this circling, he was seeking a savior, as if he had circled through the night until now and had not yet found the light.
