Fatwa number ( 19364 )
Q: My wife’s desire was to perform Hajj to the Sacred House of Allah , and indeed this was accomplished, praise be to Allah, this year. She performed all the rituals in 'Arafah , Mina , and Muzdalifah in the most complete manner. She performed the tawaf and sa'y of 'Umrah without any blemish. However, she began to feel the onset of her menstrual period after stoning the first pillar of the Jamarat al-'Aqabah, despite having taken her medical precautions before going to Hajj. We took her to a private hospital in Makkah and spent more than our financial capacity. She received intensive treatment to prevent it from continuing. Indeed, she performed ghusl and purified herself from it, and then performed the tawaf al-ifadah and the sa'y. After she finished, she checked her garment and found it clean. Then she felt that there was something red inside that had not yet reached the garment and had not come down during the tawaf. She then continued with the treatment because we were following a group, and they had to return on the twelfth day. On the day of the farewell tawaf, there was a slight yellowish discharge. She purified herself and performed tawaf around the House out of fear that it would be an error on her part not to perform the tawaf, since the redness of the period had ended. Is this tawaf
valid with the presence of this slight yellowish discharge? We ask Allah to grant you a response to these questions.

A: Her tawaf al-ifadah and her sa'y are both valid if she was not certain that any blood had come out during the tawaf. As for the farewell tawaf, it is not valid because she performed it while having the yellowish discharge, and a menstruating woman is not required to perform the farewell tawaf. Thus, it becomes clear to you that nothing is required of her, and her Hajj is valid, if Allah wills, if the reality is as you described. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
