Where is "there"? When he saw the banners and the towers, and the banners of guidance from the guided ones who are guided, he delighted his soul, remembering what the longing one had said long ago. What did he say?
"And the one overcome by love has not ceased *** except that remembering you is free from forgetfulness"
The one overcome by love, struck by the intensity of longing, has not ceased, what does that mean? It means he has not ceased in his love.
"Except that remembering you is free from forgetfulness" "Except" means to purify or exonerate; it means to exonerate myself from forgetting your remembrance, so I will not forget your remembrance.
"If he were asked what he loves, he would eagerly say: *** I love visiting you, even if only in my dreams"
So his desire is to visit them, even if only in his dreams, instead of with his feet. This is an exaggeration in his love for visiting them.
