The questioner : You say from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him): ? What is the ruling on qunut in the Fajr prayer? And how authentic is this hadith? Please give us a ruling, may Allah reward you with good?
The Shaykh : This hadith is not authentic from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), because all those who described the prayer of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) did not mention that he recited qunut in the Fajr prayer except in cases of calamity. He used to recite qunut in the Fajr prayer and in other prayers as well, indeed, he used to recite qunut in all five prayers.
Based on this, it is not prescribed to recite qunut in the Fajr prayer unless there is a cause, such as a calamity befalling the Muslims.
And when a calamity befalls the Muslims, the qunut is not restricted to the Fajr prayer, but it is performed in it and in other prayers.
And some scholars held the view that qunut in the Fajr prayer is a recommended practice.
But the qunut that is recited in the Fajr prayer is not the qunut of the witr prayer, as some of the common people think. Rather, it is a qunut in which a person makes a general supplication for the Muslims, suitable for the time in which he lives. So if a person follows someone who recites qunut in the Fajr prayer, he should follow him and say "Ameen" to his supplication, and he should not separate himself from the worshippers, as Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal (may Allah have mercy on him), the Imam of the people of the Sunnah, explicitly stated.

That the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) continued to recite qunut in the Fajr prayer until he departed this world
