What is the grade of the hadith (The blessing of food is wudu before it and after it)? And what is its meaning?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : This hadith
The blessing of food, ablution before it and after it بركة الطعام الوضوء قبله وبعده
Sunan al-Bayhaqi 10:1912
is weak in its chain of narration from the perspective of its transmission. Some scholars who are not usually concerned with distinguishing between authentic and weak hadiths interpreted it to mean that one is supposed to wash the hands and rinse the mouth only. The correct response is that even if the hadith were authentic, it is not permissible to interpret it with this linguistic meaning alone, because when wudu is mentioned in a general sense, it refers to the ritual purity without which the prayer is not valid. However, since the hadith is weak, we are spared the trouble of interpreting it to mean washing the hands and the mouth.
But there are authentic hadiths, and some people have tried to escape from their legal meaning because they involve an obligation, and people generally do not like obligations, especially those with which people are frequently tested. For example, his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
Perform ablution because of anything which has been touched by fireتوضؤوا مما مست النار
Mishkat al-Masabih 303, 304
So they interpreted this authentic hadith just as they interpreted that weak hadith
Perform ablution توضؤوا
to mean "rinse your mouths." But this interpretation was refuted by what we mentioned earlier, which is that the principle in interpreting terms found in the Book or in the Sunnah is to use the legal language, not the original linguistic language. If we know all this, then what is implied by his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
He ordered me to leave them as he had put them after performing ablutionدعهما فإني أدخلتهما طاهرتين
Sahih al-Bukhari 206
is legal, not linguistic.
Accordingly, it should be the case—and peace be upon you—that the confusion regarding the statements made about the interpretation of this hadith should be resolved. Is that clear?

The questioner : Yes, O Shaykh. May Allah reward you with good.

The Shaykh : Do you have anything else? Or are you not giving the turn to someone else?

The questioner : No problem, just a brief addition. That is, is this statement correct: that one cuts off the right hand after washing the left hand, then puts on the right sock again? Is the ritual purity valid linguistically and legally?

The Shaykh : I did not understand how?

The questioner : If one puts on the right sock, meaning if one washes the right foot and puts on the sock, then washes the left foot and puts on the sock, and then takes off the right sock after washing the left foot and puts it on, and takes off the left sock and then puts it on, is the wudu valid linguistically and legally?

The Shaykh : What is the benefit of putting on the first one?

The questioner : So that one avoids, for example, the first mistake of taking off the right sock and then putting it on.

The Shaykh : I am saying, what is the benefit of putting the right foot into the sock?

The questioner : He realized, for example, that after he had washed it.

The Shaykh : At that moment, he was inspired? Yes, correct.

The questioner : May Allah reward you with good.

The Shaykh : Do you have anything?

The questioner : I have a request and a question, O Shaykh.

The Shaykh : Ask.

The questioner : The request is that you call upon Allah for me for beneficial knowledge and righteous deeds.

The Shaykh : And why did you single yourself out? We make du'a for all those who desire to seek knowledge. We ask Allah to teach us all and benefit us, and to grant us success in acting upon what He has taught us. Because the truth is that knowledge benefits the one who acts upon it and harms the one who does not act upon it. Therefore, just as righteous deeds do not suffice in place of beneficial knowledge, so beneficial knowledge does not suffice in place of righteous deeds. So both are necessary together. I will make du'a that Allah grants us beneficial knowledge and righteous deeds. And this, of course, is a topic for discussion, or rather multiple discussions. What does Abu Fares have?

The questioner : Our Shaykh, I want to speak regarding the brother's observation about the leather socks. We arrived late a little while ago, may Allah reward you with good. One of the students of knowledge is saying, what prevents me from washing the first foot and putting on the sock, then washing the other foot and putting on the sock, and in this case, I would have put them on while they were in a state of purity?

The Shaykh : Yes, listen to the answer on the tape. That is, every time one person is late to attend and we have already delivered a lecture, do we have to repeat the lecture?

The questioner : No, excuse me, our Shaykh. A discussion took place between us and this student of knowledge, and he said, I do not get angry at my Shaykh, but I do not see any harm in it. So that we may benefit, our Shaykh, and we may benefit, if you can summarize it for us.

The Shaykh : The answer is recorded in detail.

The questioner : May Allah reward you with good.

The Shaykh : And beware of that.
