Discussion of a hadith that the Shaykh ruled to be invalid.

The Shaykh : Today I have brought up a hadith that is only two pages long. I do not want to read the entire hadith to you; I only want to hear the phrase you said: "It is invalid (batil); the signs of fabrication are apparent." It was narrated by Ibn Abi Hatim in his Tafsir. What did Ibn Kathir say about it? He said it is very strange (gharib), and there is a man in its chain whom they call Abu Ma'adh, or whose kunyah is known as Abu Ma'adh al-Basri. No one has said about him that he is a fabricator (wadda') or a liar (kadhab); rather, some of them weakened him and some of them left his narrations. According to the general rules, this hadith is called very weak. I ruled it invalid (batil). Why? Because when I read the hadith in full and saw the phrases in which it came, it became clear to me that this was fabricated intentionally by this weak narrator or this one whose narrations are left. But this is rare, very rare, to rule a hadith as invalid (batil). This is very rare. Only the later scholars fabricate such rulings, like al-Hafiz al-Dhahabi, like al-Hafiz al-'Asqalani, and some of the earlier scholars do this frequently, such as Abu Hatim al-Razi, the author of the book "Al-Ilal." He is very broad in his ruling on weak hadiths as invalid (batil) and fabricated (mawdu'), merely because he sees something in the text. But I do not see that this door should be opened, especially for these young hadith scholars, otherwise the knowledge of the Sunnah will become chaos in the hands of people. This is an observation, and now we return to the prayer.
