The questioner : May Allah reward you. The questioner says: O Shaykh, satellite dishes, or what are called "dushush," have become very numerous in the city of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Is there any guidance for people like these?
The Shaykh : By Allah, I direct to those in the Noble City, or in the Great Mecca, or in any country of the Muslims, an advice that I ask Allah to make beneficial for these people who have been afflicted with satellite dishes. I advise them that these dishes are a corruption of morals, a destruction of beliefs, and a habituation of people to evil and corruption. If you want to know that, from where do they originate? From the friends of the believers, or from the enemies of the believers? They are from the enemies of the believers. Do you think that your enemy would send you something that benefits you in your religion and your worldly life? Never. For this reason, I see that acquiring them is forbidden, and that the person who acquires them will bear the sin of them after his death. Because this man does not know when he will die; if he dies, who will use them? His descendants and his family. And every moment they look at this forbidden thing, he bears the sin of it, because he is the cause. So look at the enmity of a person to himself, where he becomes something by which he sins after his death, and I seek refuge in Allah. He will wish that he had not done it, but how can they escape from a distant place? I see that whoever has something of that, whoever has something of that, should break it as an obligation, and not sell it either, because if he sells it, to whom will he sell it? To one who uses it in what is forbidden. That would fall under the saying of Allah the Exalted:[Al-Ma'idah 5:2] This is my advice. And whoever wants to know the extent of its harm, let him look at the children, how they received from it, and what they received from it? All evil, all affliction. So I repeat the advice in this blessed mosque to our brothers who have been afflicted with it, that they repent to Allah and that they break them. And let them know that if they do that for the sake of Allah, they will find pleasure in their hearts from faith in Allah (Mighty and Majestic) and obedience to Him. I ask Allah for protection for us and for you from what is bad. Yes.
