The Meaning of the Saying of Allah the Exalted: "He created man. He taught him eloquence."

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh :
He created man خلق الإنسان
The word "man" here is singular, but the intended meaning is general because it is a generic term. Man is humankind, and the first of humankind that Allah created was Adam (peace be upon him). He did not mention the creation of others because the noblest of created beings in terms of species are humans, in terms of the species, not in terms of individuals, because some humans are lower than livestock. Allah the Exalted said:
They are not except like livestock. Rather, they are [even] more astray in [their] way. إن هم إلا كالأنعام بل هم أضل سبيلا
[Al-Furqan 25:44]
But humans, in terms of the species, are the best of the species of created beings.
He taught him eloquence علمه البيان
This means He taught man eloquence. What is the meaning of eloquence? Eloquence is expressing what is in one's self. For this reason, we find that man is the one who expresses what is in his self with a clear and distinct phrase. If someone were to ask: Is eloquence specific to the Arabic language? Meaning that one who does not speak Arabic does not have eloquence? The answer is: No. The eloquence of every people is in their language, according to what they understand. Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, said:
And We did not send any messenger except وما أرسلنا من رسول إلا
[An-Nisa 4:64]
What?
in the language of his people to state clearly for them بلسان قومه ليبين لهم
[Ibrahim 14:4]
So, eloquence in the Arabic language, or eloquence among the Arabs, is speaking in standard Arabic. Eloquence among non-Arabs is according to their language. And so we find that some people stand as orators to the people and then enchant them with their speech. They shift from the opinion they were holding, which this orator wanted to erase from their hearts, to his opinion because of eloquence. And in the hadith:
Indeed, some eloquence is enchantment, and some poetry is wisdom إن من البيان لسحرا وإن من الشعر لحكمة
