The Meaning of the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) Statement to His Companions When They Complained to Him About Whispers of the Self: "This is the Pure Faith"

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : The Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) complained to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) about this, and they said:
O Messenger of Allah! We find in our hearts what we wish would fall from the sky, and we do not speak of it.
And in another hadith:
We do not wish that any of us would be a burning coal, and we do not speak of it. So he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do you find that? They said: Yes. He said: This is the pure faith.
What does "the pure faith" mean? The pure part of anything is its essence. This was called the pure faith because Satan tries to cloud this purity; if the purity were already clouded, he would not have tried. So it was said to Ibn Mas'ud or Ibn Abbas:
The Jews say: We do not think in our prayers, and we are not whispered to in our prayers.
Meaning, do we Muslims think or not? In prayer? Tell the truth? We think a lot about things that are of no benefit. So Ibn Mas'ud or Ibn Abbas said:
And what does Satan do with a ruined heart?
Satan only comes to the hearts, what? To the sound hearts to make them sick, and to the righteous hearts to corrupt them. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
People will keep asking: Who created such and such?
Meaning: Who created the heavens? The answer.
The student: Allah.

The Shaykh : Who created the earth?
The student: Allah.

The Shaykh : Who created the sun?
The student: Allah.

The Shaykh : Who created the moon?
The student: Allah.

The Shaykh : Who created the stars? Allah. Then Satan comes and jumps in and says: Who created Allah? I seek refuge in Allah from "Who created Allah?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
So when one of you finds that, let him seek refuge in Allah and let him stop.
And this is a blessing from Allah. So you, my Muslim brother, must not let these whispers take hold of you until you are deceived and submit to them. Rather, drive them away. Drive them away with two things: seeking refuge in Allah, and turning away from them. Stop them, ward them off, do not pay them any attention, occupy yourself with what is before you, and forget them until they disappear from you completely.
