The questioner : May Allah reward you with good. He says:The questioner : Is the hadith of Abu Dawud and Sa'id ibn Mansur authentic, in which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to his wives during the Farewell Pilgrimage:
It is only this, followed by the appearance of the mats. إنما هي هذه ثم ظهور الحصر
Musannaf Abd al-Razzaq 12:689
?
Answer: "Then the appearance of the mats" or "then the appearance of," what is its grammatical case in your view, is it "appearance"?

The questioner : It is not a problem, and we benefit from you.

The Shaykh : It is not unvoweled. Okay, "then the appearance of the mats" means that after this, the time for the appearance of the mats will come. "Al-Hasir" is the plural of "hasir" (mat). The meaning is that this is followed by the time when the houses will be filled. This is an indication from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that his wives should not perform Hajj, and that was indeed the case. However, at the end of the caliphate of 'Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him), he feared the responsibility and permitted them to perform Hajj. So, whoever among them wished to perform Hajj did so at the end of the caliphate of 'Umar ibn al-Khattab, because he feared the consequences of preventing them.
Therefore, we say that in this time when pilgrims have increased greatly, and when the hardship, fatigue, mixing with men, and crowding with men that occur during Hajj are prevalent, we say: If a woman is content with her obligatory duty, and if she has surplus wealth with which she can support someone who wants to perform the obligatory Hajj, then if she helps someone who wants to perform the obligatory Hajj, she will have a reward like his, which is better than her going, crowding, and tiring herself, and perhaps perishing. Also, if a man comes to us and says: "I want to perform Hajj as a voluntary act, or I will spend what I would spend on Hajj to help our Muslim brothers in Bosnia and Herzegovina?" What do we tell him, the second or the first? The second: Help these mujahideen in the path of Allah who are defending their homelands, defending their religion, defending their honor, and defending their children; this is better than spending it on Hajj or 'Umrah.
