The Shaykh : The Night of Decree, but the most likely nights are the odd-numbered ones, and the most likely of the odd-numbered ones is the twenty-seventh night. The odd-numbered nights are the twenty-first, the twenty-third, the twenty-fifth, the twenty-seventh, and the twenty-ninth. These are five nights, and the most likely of these odd-numbered nights is the twenty-seventh; it is the most likely. However, it is not established that it is the twenty-seventh night every year; it may be the twenty-seventh night this year and the twenty-first night in another year. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was shown the Night of Decree, then he was made to forget it; Allah made him forget it. But he said: . In the morning of that night, meaning the Fajr prayer, he prostrated in water and mud. So the sky rained that night, and the Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) mosque was on a canopy, meaning on palm fronds. If the rain was light, it did not reach the Companions, but if it was heavy, it reached the ground and wet the ground. Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Sunan an-Nasa'i 1095Sahih (Darussalam). So when was it in that year? The twenty-first night. And a group of the Companions saw it in another year; they saw it in the last ten nights. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sahih Muslim 1165a. And this was in that year. But the most emphasized night is the twenty-seventh.
