Seeking the 'Umrah on the twenty-seventh night.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not say, "Perform 'Umrah on the twenty-seventh night." Rather, he encouraged standing in prayer on the Night of Decree, saying:
Whoever spends the night of Lailat Al-Qadr in prayer out of faith and in the hope of reward, he will be forgiven his previous sins. من قام ليلة القدر إيمانا واحتسابا غفر له ما تقدم من ذنبه
Sunan an-Nasa'i 2193Sahih (Darussalam)
. So, is the Night of Decree the twenty-seventh night? Allah knows best. It may be the twenty-seventh night, it may be the twenty-fifth, or it may be on another night of the ten. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
so he who wants to seek it should seek it in the last week من كان متحريها فليتحرها في العشر الأواخر
Sahih Muslim 1165a
. In the first year that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) knew that the Night of Decree was in the last ten nights, when was it? It was the twenty-first night. The Night of Decree was the twenty-first night. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was shown it, and he was shown that he would prostrate in the morning in water and mud. The sky rained on the night of the twenty-first. The roof of the Messenger's (peace and blessings be upon him) mosque was made of palm fronds. So the mosque was covered, and the ground became wet, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prostrated in the morning in water and mud. The Companions witnessed it when he finished the prayer, and on his forehead (may Allah's prayers and peace be upon him) was the mark of water and mud. So when was the night? The Night of Decree? The twenty-first night. And a group of his Companions saw it in the last seven nights; they saw it in the last seven nights, so he said:
I see that your dreams have agreed, so whoever is seeking it—meaning in that year—let him seek it in the last seven nights. أرى رؤياكم قد تواطأت، فمن كان متحريها - يعني في تلك السنة - فليتحرها في السبع الأواخر
, in the last seven nights. And he said:
Seek it in the odd-numbered nights of the last seven nights. التمسوها في الوتر من السبع الأواخر
. The odd-numbered nights are not specific to the twenty-seventh night. And so, poor some of the people: on the twenty-seventh night he stays up, comes with the imam, prays, weeps, is humble, and does other things. "Done, I stood the Night of Decree, so my sins are forgiven," poor man! Who told you that the Night of Decree is the twenty-seventh night in this month? It may be before or after. And among the wisdom and mercy of Allah is that He concealed the knowledge of its exact time so that people would strive in all ten nights. And so that the lazy one would not rely on it and say, "Done, I stood the Night of Decree, I will sleep." In any case: these are three things regarding 'Umrah in which people make mistakes.
