The persistence of blessings upon the sinner is a trial. And the clarification of the obligation of gratitude for the blessings of Allah.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : A person who does not give thanks for a blessing, if the blessing remains, it is a trial. And if it is removed, it is justice, because Allah said to us:
If you are grateful, I will surely increase you [in favor]; but if you deny, indeed, My punishment is severe.' " لئن شكرتم لأزيدنكم ولئن كفرتم إن عذابي لشديد
[Ibrahim 14:7]
. So if you see that Allah has poured out blessings upon you while you are persisting in His sins, know that this is what? A trial. Do not feel safe from the deception of Allah, for none feels safe from the deception of Allah except the people who will lose. Be mindful of your soul. And if you see that Allah has blessed you, and then blessed you again with gratitude, praise Allah and increase in that, for gratitude for blessings increases the blessings. As came in the noble verse that you heard. Now, if Allah guides you to gratitude, is this guidance a blessing? Yes?
The student: Yes.

The Shaykh : Yes, it is a blessing. How many people have been deprived of gratitude, may Allah protect us! So if Allah blesses you with gratitude, it is a blessing that requires another gratitude. Now, if you give thanks, is that a blessing?
The student: Yes.

The Shaykh : It is a blessing. It also requires a third gratitude. If you give thanks, it is a blessing that requires a fourth gratitude. For this reason, it was said:
"If my gratitude is a blessing from Allah, a blessing *** Then upon me, for Him, in its like, gratitude is obligatory
How can the fulfillment of gratitude be reached except by His grace, *** even if the days lengthen and life continues"
.
Repeat the two verses.
The student : A little at a time.

The Shaykh : The second time:
"If my gratitude is a blessing from Allah, a blessing *** Then upon me, for Him, in its like, gratitude is obligatory
How can the fulfillment of gratitude be reached except by His grace, *** even if the days lengthen and life continues"
.
I will repeat it the third time so that I can ask you to repeat it.
"If my gratitude is a blessing from Allah, a blessing *** Then upon me, for Him, in its like, gratitude is obligatory
How can the fulfillment of gratitude be reached except by His grace, *** even if the days lengthen and life continues"
.
Who has memorized it? To Allah we belong and to Him we return. Please. Yes.
The student : If my gratitude is a blessing from Allah, a blessing

The Shaykh : Then upon me, for Him, in its like, gratitude is obligatory.
The student : How can the attainment of gratitude be achieved except by His grace

The Shaykh : And if the days are long.
The student : And life is connected.

The Shaykh : Now, may Allah bless you. That means you get a passing grade, yes, or good. So gratitude for blessings is a blessing that requires another gratitude. And the second gratitude requires a third gratitude. And so on. So what is required of the person is only to say
I cannot count Your praises. You are as You have praised Yourself سبحانك لا أحصي ثناء عليك أنت كما أثنيت على نفسك
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 3493Sahih (Darussalam)
.
And when affliction touches man, he calls upon Us, whether lying on his side or sitting or standing; but when We remove from him his affliction, he continues [in disobedience] as if he had never called upon Us to [remove] an affliction that touched him. Thus is made pleasing to the transgressors that which they have been doing وإذا مس الإنسان الضر دعانا لجنبه أو قاعدا أو قائما فلما كشفنا عنه ضره مرّ كأن لم يدعنا إلى ضر مسه كذلك زين للمسرفين ما كانوا يعملون
[Yunus 10:12]
. The Imam's recitation ended here.
The student: Yes.

The Shaykh : Did the recitation of Maghrib end here? Now. And the speech ends here. And we return to the questions, we start with them and complete them if they do not end before the prayer. We will complete them after the prayer, if Allah wills. Yes.

The questioner : In the name of Allah, and all praise is for Allah, and prayers and peace be upon the best of creation, Allah, our master and our Prophet and our beloved Muhammad, and upon his family and his Companions, and whoever follows his path and is guided by his guidance until the Day of Judgment.

The Shaykh : Amen.

The questioner : A questioner says, O honorable Shaykh.

The Shaykh : O Allah, Lord of this perfect call and the established prayer, grant Muhammad the intercession and the virtue, and raise him to the praised station. Yes. Repeat the question.

The questioner : The questioner says, O honorable Shaykh, are the parents of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) considered among the people of the period of ignorance? And if they are so.

The Shaykh : No, the first question, the one before this.

The questioner : We did not read it.

The Shaykh : Bring the one after it.
