When does the night prayer begin?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : When does the night prayer begin, O honorable Shaykh?

The Shaykh : The night prayer begins when a person has prayed the 'Isha' prayer and its sunnah (recommended practice). At that point, the time for the night prayer begins. However, its most excellent time is after the middle of the night until one-sixth of the night remains. This is because when 'Abd Allah ibn 'Amr ibn al-'As (may Allah be pleased with them both) said, "By Allah, I will stand in prayer throughout the night as long as I live," the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) guided him to the best form of night prayer, which is the prayer of Dawud (peace be upon him), and he said:
who used to sleep for (the first) half of the night and pray for 1/3 of it and (again) sleep for a sixth of it إنه كان ينام نصف الليل ويقوم ثلثه وينام سدسه
Sahih al-Bukhari 3420
.

The questioner : May Allah bless you.
