Is studying in the Prophet's Mosque equivalent to the reward of one who strives in the path of Allah?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Your Eminence, is studying in the Prophet's Mosque equivalent to the reward of one who strives in the path of Allah?

The Shaykh : The student?

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : I do not know of this.

The questioner : Or the one who comes, meaning, to study in the Prophet's Mosque.

The Shaykh : But I say that seeking knowledge is striving in the path of Allah. The evidence for this is the saying of Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He:
And it is not for the believers to go forth [to battle] all at once
[At-Tawbah 9:122]
meaning in striving
For there should separate from every division of them a group
[At-Tawbah 9:122]
meaning a group sat
to gain understanding ليتفقهوا
namely those who sit
in the religion and warn their people when they return to them that they might be cautious.
[At-Tawbah 9:122]
. So Allah the Exalted made remaining to learn jurisprudence in the religion of Allah equivalent to what? Equivalent to what? To striving in the path of Allah. Allah made it clear that the believers cannot all go out to fight. And He presented to them, Mighty and Majestic, saying:
For there should separate from every division of them a group
[At-Tawbah 9:122]
. And another group sat to learn
and warn their people when they return to them that they might be cautious.
[At-Tawbah 9:122]
. So in this verse is evidence that seeking knowledge is equivalent to striving. Indeed, some scholars said: "That seeking religious knowledge is better than striving in the path of Allah", because in this is the preservation of the religion, its dissemination, and teaching the community, whereas in striving is repelling the enemies. There is a difference between them. And the correct view in this matter is that what is best for every person is what suits him. So if we find a man who is brave, strong, and knowledgeable about the methods of war, we say to him that striving is better for him. And if we find a man who is not that brave, not that strong, and does not have knowledge of the methods of war, but he has strong memorization and solid understanding, then here we say to him what? Knowledge is better. So for every person is what suits his condition. Yes.
