The Shaykh : This is also among the signs of the Hour: that wealth becomes abundant until a man brings out his zakah and finds no one to take it from him, because people have become wealthy with the money they have. This is abundance through earnings. There is another kind of abundance through planting Meadows are gardens and farms, and rivers are known as waters that flow on the surface of the earth. If we look at our reality today, we find that the second part of the hadith has occurred: that the Arabian Peninsula, that arid island, has now become meadows and rivers. How did it become rivers? By the water that springs from it, the artesian wells, and others. As for it becoming meadows, that is apparent. As for wealth, there is no doubt that it is abundant in the hands of people, but it has not reached the point where a man brings out his zakah and finds no one to take it. This has not happened yet, but it will happen. It is among the signs of the Hour. If it occurs, the Hour is near.
The student: The questions, O Shaykh.
The Shaykh : The time has not come yet. Are the questions for half an hour, or not?
The student: The twelve o'clock hour has just ended; there is half an hour left.
The student: Twelve to a quarter.
The Shaykh : Is there half an hour left now?
The student: There is an hour minus a quarter left.
The Shaykh : An hour minus a quarter. Well, then let us set aside half an hour. The questions are for half an hour, in which there is good, if Allah wills.
The last hour will not come before wealth is abundant and overflowing, before a man brings the zakat on his property and cannot find anyone to accept it from him, and before the land of the Arabs becomes meadows and rivers.
