The questioner : He says:The questioner : I spent seventeen days in the hospital and was unable to move, and I prayed without wudu' or tayammum for fear of worsening the illness I had contracted as a result of the fire. The question is: Is my prayer permissible? And if it is not permissible, do I have to make it up?

The Shaykh : This man's prayer is permissible and accepted because it falls under the general meaning of the statement of Allah the Exalted:
So fear Allah as much as you are able فاتقوا الله ما استطعتم
[At-Taghabun 64:16]
and His statement:
Allah does not charge a soul except [with that within] its capacity لا يكلف الله نفساً إلا وسعها
[Al-Baqarah 2:286]
And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to 'Imran ibn Husayn:
offer prayer in standing condition; if you are unable to do so, then in sitting condition: if you are then at your side صل قائماً فإن لم تستطع فقاعداً فإن لم تستطع فعلى جنب
Sunan Abi Dawud 952Sahih (Al-Albani)
This man is unable to perform wudu' or tayammum, and he prayed according to his ability, so his prayer is valid, sufficient, and absolves his conscience.
