The reader:
Gabriel then took me up to the seventh heaven. He asked that the gate be opened, and when he was asked who he was he replied that he was Gabriel. He was asked who was with him and replied that it was Muhammad. He was asked whether he had been sent for and when he replied that that was so, the words were uttered, `Welcome; his coming is good.' When I entered Abraham was there, and Gabriel said, `This is your father Abraham, so give him a salutation.' I did so, and when he had returned my salutation he said, `Welcome to the good son and the good prophet.' I was then taken up to the lote tree of the boundary[4] and saw that its fruits

The reciter:
...and its dates are like the jars of Hijaz, and its leaves are like the ears of elephants. He said: This is the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary. Then there are four rivers: two hidden and two visible. I said: What are these, O Jibril? He said: As for the two hidden ones, they are two rivers in Paradise, and as for the two visible ones, they are the Nile and the Euphrates. Then the House of Abundance was shown to me. Then I was brought a vessel of wine, a vessel of milk, and a vessel of honey. I took the milk, and he said: It is the fitrah (the innate natural disposition); you and your community are upon it. Then fifty prayers were made obligatory upon me, every day. I returned and passed by Musa, and he said: What have you been commanded? I said: I have been commanded fifty prayers every day. He said: Indeed, your community cannot manage fifty prayers every day. And I, by Allah, have tested the people before you and dealt with the Children of Israel with the harshest treatment. So return to your Lord and ask Him to lighten it for your community. I returned, and ten were removed from me. I returned to Musa, and he said the same. I returned, and ten were removed from me. I returned to Musa, and he said: The same. I returned, and ten were removed from me. So I was commanded ten prayers every day. I returned to Musa, and he said the same. I returned, and I was commanded five prayers every day. I returned to Musa, and he said: What have you been commanded? I said: I have been commanded five prayers every day. He said: Indeed, your community cannot manage five prayers every day. And I have tested the people before you and dealt with the Children of Israel with the harshest treatment. So return to your Lord and ask Him to lighten it for your community. I said: I have asked my Lord until I was ashamed, but I am satisfied and I submit. Then, when I had passed by, a caller called out: I have decreed My obligation and lightened it for My servants.
