A word by the Shaykh on zakat al-fitr: its ruling and its evidence.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : As for what follows, this night is the twenty-eighth night of the month of Ramadan in the year 1413 AH. It is fitting for us to begin our discussion with zakat al-fitr before we speak about what has been made easy of the clear verses of Allah that we heard on this night.
The discussion of zakat al-fitr covers several points. First, what is the ruling on this zakat? The answer is that this zakat is obligatory (fard). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) made it obligatory for the young and the old, the male and the female, the free and the slave, among the Muslims. It is established in the two Sahihs that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) made it obligatory for these people.
