The questioner : In Surat al-Buruj: [Al-Buruj 85:10] Question: How does the affliction of believers and believing women occur? We ask for your guidance.
The Shaykh : The statement of Allah the Exalted:[Al-Buruj 85:10]
And among the affliction of believers in their religion is making sin seem easy to them, by saying: “This is a trivial matter,” “This is what people have done,” “People do this,” “Do this and seek Allah’s forgiveness,” and the like of matters that make sin seem easy to believers. By doing so, they have prevented them from their religion. So any verbal or physical act that necessitates preventing people from their religion and making religion seem easy to them is part of this affliction and falls under this verse. However, there is no doubt that the affliction that leads to disbelief is greater than the affliction that leads to committing a major sin, and the affliction that leads to committing a major sin is greater than the affliction that leads to committing a minor sin. Every matter has its degree and its rank.
Indeed, those who have tortured the believing men and believing women and then have not repented will have the punishment of Hell, and they will have the punishment of the Burning Fire.
