The Meaning of Allah the Exalted’s Saying: “But as for the Day, those who believed will laugh at the disbelievers.”

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Allah the Mighty and Majestic said at the end of the surah:
So Today those who believed are laughing at the disbelievers,
[Al-Mutaffifin 83:34]
The “al” in “al-yawm” (the Day) is for covenant, meaning covenants? There are three covenants: a covenant of remembrance, a covenant of the mind, and a covenant of presence. So which of these covenants is it?
The student: A covenant of presence.

The Shaykh : So “al-yawm”...
The student: A covenant of presence.

The Shaykh : A covenant of presence? What is present...? The Day of Resurrection is present, yes.
The student: A covenant of the mind.

The Shaykh : A covenant of the mind.
The student: ...

The Shaykh : Or a covenant of remembrance? Because it is mentioned
(5) For a tremendous Day - (6) The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the worlds?
[Al-Mutaffifin 83:5-6]
So the closest covenant in this verse is a covenant of remembrance.
But as for the Day فاليوم
Meaning that great Day on which people will stand before the Lord of the worlds,
So Today those who believed are laughing at the disbelievers,
[Al-Mutaffifin 83:34]
And we ask the brother, you, how did he say
So Today those who believed
[Al-Mutaffifin 83:34]
? Is there a believer among the disbelievers?
So Today those who believed
[Al-Mutaffifin 83:34]
, Is there a believer among the disbelievers?
The student: No.

The Shaykh : Yes, how so?
The student: ...

The Shaykh : Good, yes.
The student: Some of the disbelievers believed...

The Shaykh : That is wrong. He says some of the disbelievers believed; if they believed, the disbelief is removed from them, good.
The student: ...

The Shaykh : What?
The student: That the believers from the disbelievers will laugh, meaning that they will laugh at the disbelievers.

The Shaykh :
So Today those who believed
[Al-Mutaffifin 83:34]

The student: ... That those who believed will laugh at the disbelievers.

The Shaykh : Perfect. So “from the disbelievers” is connected to what follows it, not to what precedes it. Meaning, “But as for the Day, those who believed will laugh at the disbelievers.” And for this reason, it is good to pause briefly at your saying:
So Today those who believed
[Al-Mutaffifin 83:34]
so that the listener knows that “from the disbelievers” is connected to what follows it,
So Today those who believed are laughing at the disbelievers,
[Al-Mutaffifin 83:34]
meaning they will laugh at the disbelievers. O people, we have two laughs, we have two laughs.
The first laugh:
Indeed, those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed.
[Al-Mutaffifin 83:29]
And the second laugh:
So Today those who believed are laughing at the disbelievers,
[Al-Mutaffifin 83:34]
What is the outcome of the first laugh? Weeping, regret, sadness, and misery. And the second: Joy and happiness with the blessing of Allah the Mighty and Majestic, because they were not like those people.
