If a slave woman is freed, she is given the choice between remaining with her slave husband or separating from him.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Among the details is that when she was freed, she had a husband named Mughith, who loved her intensely, while she hated him intensely. Glory be to Allah, it is strange; usually, love and hate are mutual, but this was contrary to the norm. She hated him intensely, and he loved her intensely. When she was freed, the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said to her:
You have the choice now أنت بالخيار الآن
If you wish to remain with your husband, you remain; if you wish to annul the marriage, you are free
So she said, "I annul the marriage; I do not want him." So she annulled the marriage. He would pursue her in the markets of Madinah, weeping and weeping for her separation, wanting her. فقالت أفسخ النكاح لا أريده ، ففسخت النكاح فكان يلحقها في أسواق المدينة يبكي يبكي لفراقها يريدها
. However, her heart, may Allah be pleased with her, did not soften toward him at all due to the intensity of her hatred for him, until her husband Mughith asked the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) to intervene in the matter. The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) advised her to return.
She said: "O Messenger of Allah, if you are commanding me, then I hear and obey. I will obey your command, even if I am averse to this." قالت : يا رسول الله إن كنت تأمرني فسمعاً وطاعة
I will obey your command, even if I am averse to this,
And if you are advising me, then I have no need for him. He said, "No, I am advising you." She said, "I have no need for him." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Are you not amazed by Mughith's love for Barirah and Barirah's hatred for Mughith?"
. The answer is yes, or is it no?
The student : Yes

The Shaykh : Yes, we are amazed because this is contrary to the norm. This is a sunnah (recommended practice).
