The Meaning of the Saying of Allah the Exalted: "Say, O My servants"
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : So His saying, the Exalted: [Az-Zumar 39:53] means, "Say, conveying from Us, [Az-Zumar 39:53]." And the servants are the servants of Allah, not the servants of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), because the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) is a servant, a servant of Allah, as Allah the Exalted said: [Al-Furqan 25:1] And He said: [Al-Isra 17:1] And He said: [Al-Baqarah 2:23] And Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) does not mention the servitude of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) except in stations of honor, except in stations of honor, in the station of the revelation of the Qur'an, in the station of the Night Journey, in the station of the challenge, and that is because the most noble attribute by which a person is described is to be a servant of Allah.
We ask Allah to make us among His righteous servants; this is the most noble attribute by which one is described, to be a servant of Allah.
And listen to the saying of the poet, the lover, who says:
"Do not call me except by 'O His Servant,' ** for it is the noblest of my names"
He says, if you call me, do not call me except by saying "O Servant of So-and-So," for it is the noblest of my names.
So the most noble of the attributes of the servant, or the most noble of the attributes of the human being, is to be a servant of Allah.
Say, "O My servants who have transgressed against themselves
O My servants who have transgressed against themselves
Blessed is He who sent down the Criterion upon His Servant
Exalted is He who took His Servant
And if you are in doubt about what We have sent down upon Our Servant
We ask Allah to make us among His righteous servants; this is the most noble attribute by which one is described, to be a servant of Allah.
And listen to the saying of the poet, the lover, who says:
"Do not call me except by 'O His Servant,' ** for it is the noblest of my names"
He says, if you call me, do not call me except by saying "O Servant of So-and-So," for it is the noblest of my names.
So the most noble of the attributes of the servant, or the most noble of the attributes of the human being, is to be a servant of Allah.
