The Meaning of the Saying of Allah the Exalted: "All praise is due to Allah, Lord of all the worlds. The Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate. Master of the Day of Judgment."

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Now, we ask:
[All] praise is [due] to Allah, Lord of the worlds -
[Al-Fatihah 1:2]
What is the ruling here, and what is the reason? What is the ruling and what is the reason?
The student: The ruling is praise (al-hamd).

The Shaykh : The ruling is praise, the general lordship and divinity, the general and specific mercy, and ownership. How many are these? I don't know, I counted four on my fingers, four. Well done. If the ruling is the servant's affirmation, the servant's affirmation with his tongue and his heart, that praise, which is describing with absolute perfection, pay attention to the meaning of praise. The meaning of praise is describing with absolute perfection, above which there is nothing and like which there is nothing, for whom? For Allah, because He is Allah
Lord of the worlds
because He is the Lord of all the worlds
The Most Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy
because He is the One of vast mercy
Sovereign of the Day of Recompense.
[Al-Fatihah 1:4]
because He is the Owner. So the Lord, Mighty and Majestic, is praised for these great attributes: that He is the Lord of all the worlds. So what does "Lord of all the worlds" mean? Please.
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : Yes, well done. That He is their Creator. That He is their Creator. Who created the worlds? Allah. Who created the heavens? Who created the earth? Who created the stars? Who created the sun? Who created the moon? Who created man? Allah. There is no doubt in this, even the polytheists who denied the divinity of Allah and said to the Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him,
Have you made the gods one god? This is indeed a great thing.
even if you asked these people who created them, they would say, who? They would say, Allah. Even the polytheists do not deny this. So Allah the Exalted is the Creator and the Owner. Who owns the heavens and the earth? Allah. Does anyone own benefit or harm for himself? No, no one owns it. The One who owns benefit and harm is Allah, Mighty and Majestic. Does anyone own to do what he wills? No.
And if Allah had willed, they would not have done so
[Al-An'am 6:137]
And if Allah had willed, they would not have fought each other
[Al-Baqarah 2:253]
The matter is entirely in the hand of Allah. The matter is entirely in the hand of Allah. And His perfect ownership appears on the Day of Judgment, as Allah the Exalted said:
And warn them, [O Muhammad], of the Approaching Day
[Ghafir 40:18]

The student: ... .

The Shaykh : Yes,
when hearts are at the throats, filled [with distress] إذ القلوب لدى الحناجر كاظمين
[Ghafir 40:18]

The Shaykh :
when hearts are at the throats, filled [with distress] إذ القلوب لدى الحناجر كاظمين
[Ghafir 40:18]
Not before it.
The Day they come forth nothing concerning them will be concealed from Allah. To whom belongs [all] sovereignty this Day
[Ghafir 40:16]
For whom?
Allah, the One, the Prevailing?
[Yusuf 12:39]
There is no king and no subject, no leader and no led, no minister and no ministry, no manager and no administration. Everything has vanished. The king is the highest of the people, and the one who stands in the markets and sweeps the markets is the lowest of the people. On the Day of Resurrection, they will all be gathered barefoot, naked, uncircumcised, males and females. When Aisha said to the Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him:
The men and women are naked. He said, yes, but the matter is greater than that they should be concerned with it.
The matter is great, as Allah, Mighty and Majestic, said:
(33) But when there comes the Deafening Blast (34) On the Day a man will flee from his brother (35) And his mother and his father (36) And his wife and his children,
['Abasa 80:33-36]
Why?
For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him.
['Abasa 80:37]
So when the Horn is blown, no relationship will there be among them that Day, nor will they ask about one another.
[Al-Mu'minun 23:101]
There is no lineage, no kinship, no brotherhood. It all diminishes. Every person is occupied with himself. So for whom is the kingdom on the Day of Judgment? For Allah, Mighty and Majestic, the Disposer of all affairs. He, Glorified and Exalted is He, disposes of all affairs. But I tell you, the disposal of Allah, Mighty and Majestic, is a legislative disposal. Only Allah, Mighty and Majestic, is the One who makes lawful and makes forbidden, who makes obligatory and makes permissible. This is Allah, Mighty and Majestic, alone.
"All the worlds"
Lord of the worlds
Who are the worlds? The Shaykh of Islam, Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-Wahhab, may Allah have mercy on him, says: "Everyone other than Allah is a world, and I am one of that world." All of creation is a world. All of creation is a world. They called them "worlds" because they are a sign of their Creator, due to the clear signs within them.
The Most Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy
Meaning, the One of vast mercy, the complete mercy. For Allah punishes whom He wills and shows mercy to whom He wills.
Sovereign of the Day of Recompense.
[Al-Fatihah 1:4]
What is the Day of Judgment?
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : The Day of Resurrection. Why is it called the Day of Judgment? Because souls are judged by what they did. And as it is said in the proverb: "As you judge, you will be judged." So the Day of Judgment is the Day of Resurrection, because souls are judged by what they did: if good, then good; if evil, then evil.
