Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: "And do not insult one another with nicknames."

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh :
and do not call each other by [offensive] nicknames ولا تنابزوا بالألقاب
[Al-Hujurat 49:11]
It means that none of you should call his brother by a nickname he does not like. Be careful, my brother. For example, do not call a one-eyed person "O one-eyed one, O one-eyed one, come here." This is not permissible; this is insulting one another with nicknames. Or if a man used to steal, but Allah granted him repentance, and you call him "O thief, O thief," this is not permissible.
