The Meaning of Addressing One Another by Nicknames

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first and third questions from Fatwa No. ( 20145 )
Q1: What is the meaning of addressing one another by nicknames?
A1: Addressing one another by nicknames, which is prohibited in the saying of Allah the Exalted:
and do not call each other by [offensive] nicknamesوَلاَ تَنَابَزُوا بِالأَلْقَابِ
[Al-Hujurat 49:11]
, is: when a Muslim mocks his Muslim brother and calls him by names and attributes he dislikes.

Q3: What is whispering in sin and aggression , with an example?
A3 : Whispering in sin and aggression means: speaking secretly between two or more people about what is disobedience to Allah the Exalted and His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), and advising one another to do so, and about what contains harm, plotting, and ill-treatment of the believers. These are among the characteristics of the hypocrites and the Jews, the enemies of the believers. Therefore, Allah the Exalted commanded the believers to do the opposite of these blameworthy characteristics, which is whispering in righteousness and piety. This is every good and obedience, leaving every forbidden thing and sin, and advising one another to benefit the Muslims and to ward off harms from them. Allah the Glorious and Exalted explained this in Surat al-Mujadilah. He said:
(9) O you who have believed, when you converse privately, do not converse about sin and aggression and disobedience to the Messenger but converse about righteousness and piety. And fear Allah, to whom you will be gathered. (10) Private conversation is only from Satan that he may grieve those who have believed, but he will not harm them at all except by permission of Allah. And upon Allah let the believers rely.
[Al-Mujadila 58:9-10]
,
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
