Explanation of the author's statement: "And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and his Companions encountered much of this, as Allah the Exalted said:

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : The prophets and their followers have enemies who disparage them and what they are upon. Allah the Exalted says. The author said: "And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) encountered much of this". This is clear to everyone.
"As Allah the Exalted said:
And you will surely hear from those who were given the Scripture before you and from those who associate others with Allah much abuse ولتسمعن من الذين أوتوا الكتاب من قبلكم ومن الذين أشركوا أذى كثيراً
[Ali 'Imran 3:186]
. So those oppressive polytheists assigned to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and his Companions titles of disparagement and mockery, such as: sorcerer, madman, soothsayer, and liar"
. This is not exhaustive, but they assigned many titles indicating their disdain for the Messenger (may Allah's prayer and peace be upon him) and their disparagement of him. Whereas before the prophethood, they called him the Truthful and the Trustworthy, but when he came with what contradicted what they were upon, they assigned to him titles of evil.
He said: "Since the people of knowledge and faith are the heirs of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), they encountered from the people of kalam and religious innovation what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and his Companions encountered from those polytheists. So every sect among these sects labels the people of the Sunnah with titles of disparagement and mockery from which Allah has absolved them, either out of their ignorance of the truth, where they assumed the validity of what they are upon and the invalidity of what the people of the Sunnah are upon, or out of bad intent, where they intended thereby to turn people away from the people of the Sunnah and to be biased toward their own opinions despite knowing their corruption".
Pay attention. The people of religious innovation labeled the people of the Sunnah and the community with titles of evil. Every sect labels them with what corresponds to the opposite of what they are upon, meaning what that sect is upon.
What drives them to do this? Either ignorance of the truth and their assumption that what they are upon is the truth and that everything else is invalid, so they disparage it.
And this exists, unfortunately, in our time now. You find some people doing a deed, even if it is not from the creed, and they see it as the truth. So when a person contradicts them in it, they go to disparage him and mock him, saying: So-and-so says such-and-such, so-and-so says such-and-such.
Or the driver for them to these titles is, as he says: bad intent, where they intended thereby to invalidate the truth and establish falsehood.
The leaders of the innovators are generally driven by bad intent, because ignorance of the truth is far from these great imams and callers. But their common people, yes, they are the ones who may be ignorant.
So the result is that those who followed the Messenger (may Allah's prayer and peace be upon him) were not safe from the people of evil and the people of religious innovation. Rather, the people of religious innovation labeled them with titles of evil to turn people away from what they are upon, either out of their ignorance of the truth and their assumption that what they are upon is the truth and that these people contradict it, or out of bad intent and the desire to transgress.
... in the titles of evil that the people of religious innovation use to label the people of the Sunnah. It has been mentioned previously that this is the Sunnah (custom) of Allah the Exalted and Majestic in His creation, and that just as the messengers have a people of criminals who describe them with titles of defect, the followers of the messengers have a people of criminals who label them with descriptions of defect.
