What is the criterion for the adornment a woman displays before mahrams other than her husband?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : What is the criterion for the adornment a woman is permitted to display?

The Shaykh : What is the criterion for the adornment?

The questioner : That a woman is permitted to display before mahrams other than her husband?

The Shaykh : Allah (Mighty and Majestic) said:
not expose their adornment except that which [necessarily] appears thereof وَلا يُبْدِينَ زِينَتَهُنَّ إِلاَّ مَا ظَهَرَ مِنْهَا
[An-Nur 24:31]
The adornment that is normally displayed, such as abayas, jallabs, and everyday clothes, is the adornment that is displayed. As for the adornment of beautification, this is not displayed except to mahrams only.
On the condition that we are safe from fitnah (trial, discord or temptation). If fitnah is feared, even among mahrams, it is forbidden for her to display herself in beautiful clothes, because some mahrams may have a distant relationship with this woman, for example, a brother through breastfeeding, whom she might see only once a year or perhaps once every two years. If she is a young, beautiful woman and he is weak in faith and weak in resolve, there is a fear of fitnah. We say: This is not like a brother by blood, who is always with the woman. Yes.
