Is it obligatory to recite the supplication for riding every time one mounts a riding animal? And is the recitation of the supplication for a riding animal in an electric elevator analogous to that for a riding animal?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Okay, Shaykh, is it obligatory, is it obligatory when riding a riding animal, every time one mounts a riding animal, when one intends to ride?

The Shaykh : What did he do?

The questioner : Does he recite the supplication for riding?

The Shaykh : Yes, the apparent meaning of the Qur'an is that whenever a person rides on a camel, a car, a ship, or a train, he should say:
"Exalted is He who has subjected this to us, and we could not have [otherwise] subdued it. (14) And indeed we, to our Lord, will [surely] return." سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي سَخَّرَ لَنَا هَذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لَهُ مُقْرِنِينَ * وَإِنَّا إِلَى رَبِّنَا لَمُنْقَلِبُونَ
[Az-Zukhruf 43:13-14]
Yes.

The questioner : Okay, is this lift analogous to that, Shaykh?

The Shaykh : The lift.

The questioner : The lift.

The Shaykh : No, no, I do not think this electric elevator is of that type; rather, this is a staircase that is made easy and facilitated.

The questioner : May Allah reward you, Shaykh.
