If a person receives a monthly salary, how does he pay the zakah on this salary, when some of these salaries may not complete a lunar year?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : , O Shaykh: If a person receives a salary for his job and takes this salary at the end of every month, how does he pay the zakah on the money for this salary? Some of the salaries from this job do not complete a lunar year, while some are, for example, a year, some are ten months, and some are eight months. So, if at the end of the year he pays the zakah on the money that has accumulated with him, does he pay the zakah, for example, by advancing the payment, or does he wait for each month until it is completed and the lunar year passes over every amount of money?

The Shaykh : Yes, the zakah is not obligatory until the lunar year is completed over it. If he wishes, he can monitor the money that comes to him bit by bit and pay the zakah on each amount when its lunar year is completed, but this involves hardship. If he wishes, he can pay the zakah when the first lunar year is completed and then continue with that. In this case, the zakah on the amount whose lunar year has been completed is paid at its proper time, and the zakah on the amount whose lunar year has not been completed is advanced. Advancing the zakah is permissible; there is no harm in it. This is what we practice regarding the zakah on salaries: we designate a specific month, such as Ramadan, in which we pay the zakah on everything we have, even if only one month has passed over some of it, because this is more comfortable and purer for the conscience.
