Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: "And We have built above you seven, firmly set," to His saying: "And the mountains were removed, and they became a mirage."

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and I send prayers and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and his Companions, and upon those who follow them with excellence until the Day of Judgment.
As for what follows:
We are in this twenty-sixth Thursday of the month of Rabi' al-Akhir, 1413, or the twenty-fifth. Ah, we are concluding the gatherings of this month because this is the fourth one, although there was an absence at the beginning of the month for an excuse. We ask Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, to make these gatherings regular and to bless them for us and our brothers, and to grant us all beneficial knowledge and righteous deeds. Indeed, He is Generous and Bountiful. Now, we complete what we began with, which is a concise exegesis of the last parts of the Noble Qur'an. Yes, and what is in it? I did not understand.

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : Now, the last parts of the Noble Qur'an, which is the Part of 'Am, and that is because this part is frequently heard from the imams in their prayers. For this reason, after your choice, we chose to speak about it briefly.
The last verse, so the last verse we spoke about last week is the saying of Allah the Exalted:
(12) And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] (13) And made [therein] a burning lamp (14) And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water
[An-Naba 78:12-14]
to the end of the surah. If it is facilitated, we will speak about it today.
Allah, Mighty and Majestic, says:
And constructed above you seven strong [heavens]
[An-Naba 78:12]
meaning: strong and firm. These are the seven heavens. The mention of the heavens has come restricted to seven in the Noble Qur'an in the saying of Allah the Exalted:
Say, "Who is Lord of the seven heavens and Lord of the Great Throne?"
[Al-Mu'minun 23:86]
.
As for the earths, they came restricted to this number in the Sunnah, such as the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
He who wrongly took a span of land, Allah shall make him carry around his neck seven earths.
Sahih Muslim 1610a
.
They also came in the Noble Qur'an restricted to this number by way of indication in the saying of Allah the Exalted:
It is Allah who has created seven heavens and of the earth, the like of them. [His] command descends among them
[At-Talaq 65:12]
. So His saying:
and of the earth, the like of them
[At-Talaq 65:12]
, only similarity in number is possible in it, because similarity in quality is impossible, since there is a difference between the heavens and the earth in quality, attribute, expanse, and strength. So it is established that the intended meaning is
The like of them.
in number.
Then He, the Exalted, said:
(12) And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] (13) And made [therein] a burning lamp
[An-Naba 78:12-13]
, and that is this sun. For it is the lamp of the earth, and a blazing light of intense heat. The proof of this is that we feel its heat, and between us and it is this great distance, especially in the days of summer, when it is close to our heads, vertical above us.
It is not hidden from the people of knowledge of the natures of plants, seas, and deserts what great benefit there is in this heat for the entities and the attributes. For this reason, Allah, Mighty and Majestic, emphasized that by His saying:
And made [therein] a burning lamp
[An-Naba 78:13]
meaning: it blazes.
And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water
[An-Naba 78:14]
: The "Mu'ṣirāt" are the clouds, and they are called "Mu'ṣirāt" because they are in the position of one who wrings water from a cloth. For this water penetrates this cloud and comes out of it, just as water comes out of a wrung cloth.
Allah the Exalted said:
It is Allah who sends the winds, and they stir the clouds and spread them in the sky however He wills, and He makes them fragments so you see the rain emerge from within them
[Ar-Rum 30:48]

And His saying:
pouring down in abundance ثَجَّاجاً
meaning: much pouring down, meaning the downpour, and that is due to its abundance and strength, until it waters the earth. Allah the Exalted said:
(15) That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation (16) And gardens of entwined growth.
[An-Naba 78:15-16]
. The grain and the plants are the crops, and they are the plants that do not have a stalk.
and gardens, one after another وَجَنَّاتٍ أَلْفَافاً
are the trees that have a stalk. So from this pouring water come the crops, the date palms, the grapes, and others, whether they come out of it directly or come out of it by means of extracting water from the earth, because the water in the earth is from the rain.
As He, the Exalted, said:
and sent down water from the sky and given you drink from it. And you are not its retainers.
[Al-Hijr 15:22]
. And He, the Exalted, said in another verse:
and makes it flow as springs [and rivers] in the earth
[Az-Zumar 39:21]
. And His saying:
dense and intertwined أَلْفَافاً
meaning: folded one over the other, until they cover those who are in them due to their abundance and their folding one over the other.
Then He, the Exalted, said:
Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - إِنَّ يَوْمَ الْفَصْلِ كَانَ مِيقَاتاً
[An-Naba 78:17]
, and that is the Day of Resurrection. It is called the Day of Judgment because Allah judges therein between the servants regarding what has grown between them and what they differed in. He judges between the people of truth and the people of falsehood, the people of disbelief and the people of faith, the people of aggression and the people of moderation. And He also judges therein between the people of Paradise and the people of the Fire
A party will be in Paradise and a party in the Blaze.
[Ash-Shuraa 42:7]
.
And
was the appointed time كَانَ مِيقَاتاً
means: appointed for a counted time, as He, the Exalted, said:
And We do not delay it except for a limited term.
[Hud 11:104]
. And what is your opinion of a thing that has a counted term, and you see how the term goes quickly, day after day, until the person reaches the last stage? So likewise, the entire world moves day after day until it reaches the last stage.
For this reason, He, the Exalted, said:
And We do not delay it except for a limited term.
[Hud 11:104]
. And everything is counted, so it ends.
The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes
[An-Naba 78:18]
. And the one who blows in it is Israfil, who is in charge of it, and he blows in it two blasts:
The first: people are terrified, then they are struck with a stunning blow and die. The second: they are resurrected from their graves, and their souls return to them. For this reason, he said here:
The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes
[An-Naba 78:18]
. And in the verse, as is not hidden, there is brevity by omission, meaning: so you live, and you come in groups, a group with a group, or one group following another. And these groups, and Allah knows best, are according to the nations. Every nation is called to its book to be reckoned upon it. So the people come in groups in this great standing place where the earth is leveled, and Allah, Mighty and Majestic, leaves it
(106) And He will leave the earth a level plain; (107) You will not see therein a depression or an elevation." قَاعاً صَفْصَفاً * لا تَرَى فِيهَا عِوَجاً وَلا أَمْتاً
[Taha 20:106-107]
. And on this day, Allah, Mighty and Majestic, says:
And the heaven is opened and will become gateways
[An-Naba 78:19]
. They opened and split, so they become doors that people see, after they were a preserved ceiling. On that day, they become open doors. And in this is a proof of the perfection of the power of Allah, Mighty and Majestic, that He makes these seven, firmly set, on the Day of Resurrection as if they had not been, becoming doors
(8) On the Day the sky will be like murky oil, (9) And the mountains will be like wool, (10) And no friend will ask [anything of] a friend,
[Al-Ma'arij 70:8-10]
.
And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage.
[An-Naba 78:20]
meaning: the great, solid mountains are crushed, so they become like sand, then they become like a mirage, moving
And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage.
[An-Naba 78:20]
.
Then He, the Exalted, said:
Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait
[An-Naba 78:21]
. And we leave that for the coming week, if Allah wills. And praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his companions. There are specific questions. Good, yes, allow us.
