Question:
He inquires about the noble verse in Surat al-Naml, I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Shaytan:
And you see the mountains, thinking them rigid, while they will pass as the passing of clouds. [It is] the work of Allah, who perfected all things. Indeed, He is Acquainted with that which you do.
[al-Naml:88]?

Answer:
This is the Day of Resurrection, when they will pass by like clouds. On the Day of Resurrection, as He said—(Exalted and Majestic is He):
And they ask you about the mountains, so say, "My Lord will blow them away with a blast.
[Ta-Ha:105] And in the other verse:
And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage.
[al-Naba':20] meaning: on the Day of Resurrection. Yes, that is not the case in this world. In this world, they are stationary, calm, and firm. Allah established them and made them pegs for the earth in the state of this world. He said, the Exalted:
And He has cast into the earth firmly set mountains, lest it shift with youوَأَلْقَى فِي الأَرْضِ رَوَاسِيَ أَنْ تَمِيدَ بِكُمْ
[al-Nahl:15],
Mountains
meaning the mountains,
Lest it shake youأَنْ تَمِيدَ
meaning: lest they shake you; lest they make you tremble. And on the Day of Resurrection, these mountains will move, and they will go and crumble, as He said, the Exalted:
And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage.
[al-Naba':20] He said, the Exalted:
And they ask you about the mountains, so say, "My Lord will blow them away with a blast.
[Ta-Ha:105-107], yes.
