And constructed above you seven strong [heavens]

وَبَنَيْنَا فَوْقَكُمْ سَبْعاً شِدَاداً

[An-Naba: 12] meaning: strong and firm,and she: the seven heavens, and the mention of the heavens in the Noble Qur'an is qualified by the number seven in the saying of Allah the Exalted:

Say, "Who is Lord of the seven heavens and Lord of the Great Throne?"

قُلْ مَنْ رَبُّ السَّمَاوَاتِ السَّبْعِ وَرَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ

[Al-Mu'minun: 86] , As for the earths, they are qualified by this number in the Sunnah, such as the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): (Whoever seizes a span of land unjustly, Allah will encircle him with it on the Day of Resurrection from seven earths) and they are qualified by this number in the Noble Qur'an by way of indication in the saying of Allah the Exalted:

It is Allah who has created seven heavens and of the earth, the like of them. [His] command descends among them

اللَّهُ الَّذِي خَلَقَ سَبْعَ سَمَاوَاتٍ وَمِنَ الْأَرْضِ مِثْلَهُنَّ يَتَنَزَّلُ الْأَمْرُ بَيْنَهُنَّ

[At-Talaq: 12] So His saying:

and of the earth, the like of them

وَمِنَ الْأَرْضِ مِثْلَهُنَّ

[At-Talaq: 12] can only be understood as similarity in number; because similarity in quality is impossible, as there is a difference between the heavens and the earths in quality, attribute, expanse, and strength, so it is established that the intended meaning of (like them) is in number.
