What is the meaning of the Prophet's statement in the hadith of the Dajjal: "Estimate its duration"?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Peace be upon you, and Allah’s mercy and blessings.

The Shaykh : Peace be upon you, and Allah's mercy and blessings.

The questioner : The hadith of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) regarding the Dajjal, when he said:

One of his days is like a year, and another is like a month. So the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) asked him, in the sense of: How do we perform the prayer? He said: Estimate it. Does this mean that if, for example, the day is approximately 180 days, they pray five prayers in it, or that they pray five prayers every 24 hours according to our estimation? The Shaykh: No. His saying "Estimate it" means pray as is customary. So the day that is like a year, one would pray a full year's worth of prayers in it. And this is if the hours remain with us until the Dajjal comes, making it easy. Because a person knows the times in winter and summer, and he has the measure for these times, which are the hours. And if they do not remain, and knowledge is with Allah, if they do not remain, then he estimates as the Companions used to estimate. Yes, that is correct.
