Meaning: And among the trials of the Dajjal
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh :Sahih al-Bukhari 1377 The Dajjal is a man whom Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) will send in the end times. He will claim to be the Lord, and Allah the Exalted will cause matters to occur through his hands that result in the great trial. He will come to a people and call them, and if they respond to him, he will command the sky and it will rain, and he will command the earth and it will grow. He will come to a people and call them, and they will reject his call, so they will become desolate, may Allah protect us, having no water or vegetation. This is a great trial by which nations will be tested, and none knows them except Allah. The believer will be saved from it because the word "kafir" (disbeliever) will be written between his eyes in disjointed letters: kaf, fa, ra. Every reader and non-reader will read it, and every wicked person will be blind to it, whether he is a reader or not, so he will fall into his trial, may Allah protect us, and take him as a Lord besides Allah. With him is a Paradise and with him is a Fire, but the Paradise is Fire and the Fire is Paradise. All of this is part of the trial that Allah (Mighty and Majestic) wills for His wisdom. This Dajjal will remain on earth for forty days. The first day is like a year, meaning twelve months; the second is like a month; the third is like a week; and the remaining days are like our ordinary days.
When the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) narrated this hadith, the Companions did not speak about asking regarding cosmic matters, such as how a single day could be twelve months, or how the sun would move. They did not speak about this because it is a matter that does not concern them; this is up to Allah (Mighty and Majestic) and His power, which is above everything we imagine. However, they spoke about matters of religion because that is what concerns them. They said, "O Messenger of Allah, is one day's prayer sufficient for us in that day which is like a year?" He said:Sunan Abi Dawud 4321Sahih (Al-Albani). This means that in that one day, they should pray the prayer of twelve months, a full year's worth of prayer. The second day is like a month, so how much is prayed in it? The prayer of a full month. The third is the prayer of a week. The fourth and those after it are like the usual prayer.
So reflect on the state of the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them); they did not ask about cosmic, decreed matters because that is not within their scope. What is required of them is what relates to legislative, devotional matters. For this reason, they asked about worship and did not ask about the cosmic, decreed matter of how the sun, which is accustomed to cross the horizon in twenty-four hours, would not cross it except in a full year. This is contrary to custom, but they did not care about this because the matter is up to Allah. What concerns them is the legislative matter.
Now, after this Dajjal remains for forty days as described by the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), 'Isa ibn Maryam (peace be upon him) will descend. He will descend from the sky and kill this Dajjal. 'Isa will descend as a just judge who accepts nothing but Islam or killing. Whoever does not submit to Islam will be killed; there is no jizyah (tax on protected non-Muslims) in this case. Now, the jizyah is established in the Islamic Shari'ah. First, the disbelievers are invited to Islam; if they refuse, they are invited to pay the jizyah; if they refuse, they are fought. But when 'Isa descends, the disbelievers are not given a choice between anything but two things: Islam or killing. This is not an abrogation of the Shari'ah of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), but rather an implementation of it, because the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) informed that this would happen and that it is part of his Shari'ah (peace and blessings be upon him).
and the afflictions of Al-Masih Ad-Dajjal.

No, you must make an estimate of its extent
