What is the ruling on the imam who prays over the funeral of a man and, before praying over him, mentions the person's name to inform the worshippers?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : The one after it.

The questioner : Peace be upon you.

The Shaykh : And peace be upon you.

The questioner : Your Eminence, some people, when the deceased is brought forward for the funeral prayer, mention this person's name. Is there anything wrong with this?

The Shaykh : They say, "This is so-and-so, son of so-and-so."

The questioner : Yes, the prayer over so-and-so, son of so-and-so.

The Shaykh : Yes, informing the people about the deceased when he is brought forward, whether he is male or female, is so that the supplication uses the masculine pronoun if he is male, or the feminine pronoun if she is female.
Or, if there is a male among them, or if there is a large funeral and a small one for a child who has not reached puberty, they inform the people so that they supplicate for each one appropriately. There is nothing wrong with this because of the benefit in it.
As for informing about him by his name, I do not know. I refrain from this. It may have a benefit, or it may not. For example, among those present, there may be someone who had a previous enmity with this specific deceased person. He might turn away from the prayer and say, "I am not going to pray over this man," and this would cause confusion. Or perhaps he would pray over him, but instead of supplicating to Allah for him, he would supplicate to Allah against him. So, if he left out specifying the name, it would be better. Yes.
