The ruling on praying over a funeral

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q569: The questioner asks: What is the ruling on praying over a funeral? If a funeral is brought forward for the prayer, and one of the worshippers leaves without praying over it, does he commit a sin?
A569: He does not commit a sin, because if a group of Muslims prays over the funeral, or even if just one Muslim prays over it, the obligatory duty is fulfilled. However, it is recommended for him to participate in the congregational prayer to obtain the great reward, and he should not rush and deprive himself of it, unless there is a reason for leaving that would cause him to miss a benefit, in which case there is no harm in his leaving.
