The reciter: Abdullah ibn Yusuf narrated to us, saying: Malik informed us from Sa'id al-Maqburi from Ubayd ibn Jarir:
That he said to Abdullah ibn Umar: "O Abu Abd al-Rahman, I have seen you do four things that I have not seen any of your companions do." He said: "What are they, O Ibn Jarir?" He said: "I have seen you not touch any of the pillars except the two on the right, and I have seen you wear the Sabat sandals, and I have seen you dye with yellow, and I have seen that when you are in Makkah, the people enter the state of ihram when they see the new moon, but you do not enter the state of ihram until the Day of Tarwiyah." Abdullah said: "As for the pillars, I have not seen the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) touch any except the two on the right. As for the Sabat sandals, I have seen the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) wear a sandal that has no hair in it and perform ablution in it, so I like to wear them. As for the yellow dye, I have seen the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) dye with it, so I like to dye with it. As for the new moon, I have not seen the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) enter the state of ihram until his mount was set in motion for him."
أنه قال لعبد الله بن عمر : يا أبا عبد الرحمن رأيتك تصنع أربعا لم أر أحدا من أصحابك يصنعها، قال : وما هي يا ابن جريج ؟، قال : رأيتك لا تمس من الأركان إلا اليمانيين ، ورأيتك تلبس النعال السبتية ، ورأيتك تصبغ بالصفرة ، ورأيتك إذا كنت بمكة أهل الناس إذا رأوا الهلال ولم تهل أنت حتى كان يوم التروية، قال عبد الله : أما الأركان فإني لم أر رسول الله صلّى الله عليه وسلم يمس إلا اليمانيين ، وأما النعال السبتية فإني رأيت رسول الله صلّى الله عليه وسلم يلبس النعل التي ليس فيها شعر ويتوضأ فيها فأنا أحب أن ألبسها، وأما الصفرة فإني رأيت رسول الله صلّى الله عليه وسلم يصبغ بها فأنا أحب أن أصبغ بها، وأما الهلال فإني لم أر رسول الله صلّى الله عليه وسلم يهل حتى تنبعث به راحلته
