Explanation of the Book of Ablution, Ghusl, Menstruation, and Tayammum-03b

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: Hafs ibn 'Umar narrated to us, saying: Shu'bah narrated to us, saying: Ash'ath ibn Salm informed me, saying: I heard my father from Misraq from 'Aishah, who said:
Allah’s Messenger (rad) loved to begin with the right while putting on his shoes, combing his hair, in his purification and in all his affairs كان النبي صلّى الله عليه وسلم يعجبه التيمن في تنعله وترجله وطهوره وفي شأنه كله
Bulugh al-Maram 44
.

The Shaykh : ...
liked يعجبه
means approval and approval of the act.
in putting on his sandals في تنعله
means in wearing the sandals; if he intended to put on his sandals, he would start with the right, and if he took them off, he would start with the left, and if he put them on, he would start with the right.
And likewise in combing his hair, meaning combing his hair and applying oil to it, because the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) used to have long hair and would comb it. However, the scholars said that it should be done occasionally, meaning the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade combing except occasionally, meaning he did not make it every day, but rather one day and then the next, so that he would not be occupied with these matters to the neglect of what is more important than them.
And the third:
his purification طهوره
means his performance of purification, which includes wudu' and includes ghusl. Then she came with a general word, saying:
And in all his affairs. وفي شأنه كله
.
And this generality is specified by some things, for the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) used to forbid a man from cleaning himself with his right hand, and this means that he will clean himself with his left hand. So her saying
in all his affairs في شأنه كله
is a general statement that is specified.
Now, if someone were to ask: Is there a rule?
We say yes. The scholars (may Allah have mercy on them) said: The left hand is preferred for filth and dirt, and the right hand for everything else. So there are three things: what is disgusting, what is approved, and what is neither this nor that. The left hand is preferred for the disgusting and the filthy, and for everything else, the right hand is preferred.
Now, does this include wearing the garment and the shirt?
Yes, the right sleeve is put on before the left, and likewise for the leg. And a person should be mindful of these matters so that he attains much good, so that his habits become acts of worship. Many of us are negligent of this and forget it. You find that a person does not take off the left before the right, nor put on the right before the left, and likewise with the shirt and likewise with the trousers. This is a matter that a person should utilize time for with intention and presence of mind, and if he accustoms himself to it, he will become accustomed to it, but if he is negligent, he will forget.
