The reader: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions.
The author (may Allah have mercy on him) quoted, in the context of the hadiths in the chapter on the recommendation of preferring the right side in everything that involves honoring: “From Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), who said: ‘The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) liked to prefer the right side in all his affairs: in his purification, in combing his hair, and in putting on his sandals.’ Agreed upon. And from her (may Allah be pleased with her), she said: ‘The right hand of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was for his purification and his food, and the left hand was for his relieving himself and whatever was unpleasant.’ This is a sound hadith, narrated by Abu Dawud and others with a sound chain”.

The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
The author (may Allah have mercy on him) quoted, in the chapter on the recommendation of preferring the right side in matters involving honoring, from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), who said: “The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) liked to prefer the right side in all his affairs”. “In all his affairs” means in all his states; he liked it, meaning it pleased him and he approved of starting with the right side in everything. “In his purification, in putting on his sandals, and in combing his hair”. “In his purification” means that when he performed purification, he started with the right side: he started by washing the right hand before the left, and by washing the right foot before the left. As for the ears, they are one organ inside the head, so he wiped them both together, unless he was unable to wipe them except with one hand; in that case, he started with the right ear out of necessity. And her saying: “combing his hair”: combing means straightening the hair, combing it, and applying oil to it. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) was, like the custom of people at that time, not to cut his hair except for Hajj or 'Umrah, but sometimes he would cut it and sometimes leave it. Sometimes it would reach the lobes of his ears, and sometimes it would hang down until it touched his shoulders. So he (peace and blessings be upon him) would attend to it, attending to it by cleaning, combing, and oiling it, so that it remained clean, without dust, lice, or anything else that is disgusting. Likewise, he liked to prefer the right side in putting on his sandals, meaning that when he put on a sandal, he started with the right before the left, and when he took it off, he started with the left before the right. Likewise, with a garment, when he put it on, he started by inserting the right sleeve before the left, and likewise with trousers, he started by inserting the right leg before the left, and the opposite when taking them off. In the second hadith, she (may Allah be pleased with her) clarified what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used the right hand for and what he used the left hand for. She mentioned that what he used the left hand for was whatever involved unpleasantness, such as cleaning oneself after relieving oneself, using pebbles for cleaning, sniffing, and blowing out the nose, and the like. Everything that involves unpleasantness, the left hand is preferred, and everything else, the right hand is preferred to honor it, because the right side is better than the left, as passed to us previously in the last lesson. And Allah grants success.
