Is it permissible to supplicate in prostration with verses from the Noble Qur'an, for example: "Our Lord, do not let our hearts deviate after You have guided us, and grant us mercy from Yourself. Indeed, You are the Bestower of gifts. Our Lord, we have believed, so forgive us our sins and protect us from the punishment of the Fire."

The questioner : Is it permissible to supplicate in prostration with verses from the Noble Qur'an, for example:
[Who say], "Our Lord, let not our hearts deviate after You have guided us and grant us from Yourself mercy. Indeed, You are the Bestower. رَبَّنَا لا تُزِغْ قُلُوبَنَا بَعْدَ إِذْ هَدَيْتَنَا وَهَبْ لَنَا مِنْ لَدُنْكَ رَحْمَةً إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ الْوَهَّابُ
[Ali 'Imran 3:8]
Our Lord, indeed we have believed, so forgive us our sins and protect us from the punishment of the Fire," رَبَّنَا إِنَّنَا ءامَنَّا فَاغْفِرْ لَنَا ذُنُوبَنَا وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ
[Ali 'Imran 3:16]
?

The Shaykh : Yes, it is permissible for a person in the state of prostration to supplicate with the supplications of the Noble Qur'an if he intends supplication rather than recitation. However, if he intends recitation, that is not permissible, due to the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
I have been forbidden to recite the Qur'an while bowing or prostrating; so while in the bowing (position) glorify (the Perfection of) the Rabb (Lord), and while in the prostrating (position) be earnest in supplication, for it is fitting that your supplications may be answered. ألا وإني نهيت أن أقرأ القرءان راكعاً أو ساجدا فأما الركوع فعظموا فيه الرب وأما السجود فاجتهدوا في الدعاء فقمِن أن يستجاب لكم
Bulugh al-Maram 2:179
Therefore, it is not permissible for a person to recite anything from the Qur'an while bowing or prostrating, unless the verses contain supplication and he intends it as supplication. For example, if this person were to recite a verse as a recitation of the Qur'an, it would be forbidden for him, but if he recited it as a supplication, it would be permissible. Yes.
