The Book of Prayer
Chapter: How the Prayer Was Made Obligatory During the Night Journey, and Ibn 'Abbas said...

The Shaykh : His statement (may Allah have mercy on him), "The Book of Prayer," is to make it known that this is what is intended; it is the intended purpose of all that preceded regarding ritual purity. All that preceded regarding ritual purity is for the sake of prayer. Therefore, it is the goal, and prayer is the best of the pillars of Islam after the two testimonies. A person does not become a disbeliever by leaving any of the pillars of Islam other than the two testimonies except by leaving the prayer. It has become clear from the texts the complete love of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) for it, and His care for it, in that He made fifty prayers obligatory every day and night, and then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) returned to him and said:
It is five in reality and fifty in the scale. إنها خمس بالفعل وخمسون في الميزان
Praise be to Allah. Yes.
