The reciter: In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy. Al-Bukhari (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "Chapter: Prayer is an expiation".
Qutaybah narrated to us, saying: Yazid ibn Zura' narrated to us from Sulayman al-Taymi from Abu Usman al-Nahdi from Ibn Mas'ud: أن رجلا أصاب من امرأة قبلة فأتى النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم فأخبره فأنزل الله عز وجل : أقم الصلاة طرفي النهار وزلفا من الليل إن الحسنات يذهبن السيئات فقال الرجل : يا رسول الله ألي هذا ؟ قال : لجميع أمتي كلهم That a man kissed a woman, so he came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and informed him, so Allah the Exalted and Mighty revealed: "Establish prayer at the two ends of the day and at the approach of the night. Indeed, good deeds remove evil deeds." The man said: "O Messenger of Allah, is this for me specifically?" He said: "For all my Ummah, every one of them.".
The Shaykh : We have a variation in the order here, or we read the first one; we read it as the hadith of Musaddad, good.
His statement, Ibn Mas'ud:Sahih al-Bukhari 526 means from a woman for whom it is forbidden for him to kiss her, but his desire prompted him to do so, so he kissed her.
So he came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and informed him, so Allah the Exalted revealed: I do not have the waw in my copy. Do you have a waw in yours?
But the wording of the verse is: they are Fajr and 'Asr, [Hud 11:114] meaning a portion of the night like 'Isha', and it is permissible that the intended meaning of "the two ends of the day" is Dhuhr and 'Asr, because Dhuhr and 'Asr are at the end of the day or in its latter half.
[Hud 11:114] The man said: Sahih al-Bukhari 526.
Praise be to Allah. So in this verse there is evidence for matters:
The first matter: that a kiss is not among the major sins, because the major sins are not expiated by the five prayers, for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) made the condition for the five prayers being an expiation the avoidance of major sins. But does that mean a person should feel secure that his heart will not be corrupted by this matter?
No, he should not feel secure; he may progress from that to explicit, complete zina, and may Allah protect us from that. For this reason, it is not permissible for a person to be lax in this matter because of such a hadith.

A man kissed a woman (unlawfully)

أقم الصلاة طرفي النهارBut the wording of the verse is:
And establish prayer at the two ends of the day
وأقم الصلاة طرفي النهارand at the approach of the night
وزلفاً من الليلIndeed, good deeds do away with misdeeds
إن الحسنات يذهبن السيئاتThe man asked Allah's Messenger (ﷺ), "Is it for me?" He said, "It is for all my followers."
